Low HDL,high triglycerides, VLDL Dense LDL usually go together. However, Low HDL alone is a sign that dense LDL is present and VLDL is too high
Low HDL, high triglycerides, dense LDL and high VLDL are danger signs for both men and women . They reflect an overload of energy producing lipoproteins which the liver, pancreas and fat tissues cannot handle. It reflects a disordered glucose and fat metabolism that occurs as most of us get older and is progressive. It is associated with Insulin Resistance (Prediabetes).
HDL although thought to be beneficial, may sometimes be dysfunctional and cause atherosclerosis.
Dense LDL is associated with increased triglycerides(greater than 80) and low HDL. It is the main reason that LDL is not the ultimate risk factor parameter.
